‘Grace’ is a song about privilege, opportunity, advantage and chance. We live in a world where the rich get richer, the disadvantaged get increasingly less opportunity and the disparity between them just keeps on growing exponentially. ‘Grace’ is about acknowledging and accepting the part that I unfortunately play in all of that. Although I am just a cog in a very large machine, I, through no doing of my own, have been lucky enough to be born in a country where opportunity is everywhere, there is money to be earned and I can pursue my own selfish path and make art. It’s about really coming to terms with the fact that my life achievements would not have been possible if I were to be born in an ‘unlucky’ country or family and everything that I am, I owe to chance and dumb luck. There was a lot of sarcasm written into this song, which is something I’ve never done before, but if you know me in person, it’s very much written into my DNA so I guess it was only a matter of time. - Dom
